As we approach the completion of our new Jubilee Sports and Recreation Centre, works to improve the external areas surrounding the building will begin.

From 1 July until 2 September works to improve the pavement, landscaping and the installation of additional cycle hoops will begin. In order to facilitate this work, one lane on University Road closest to the building, and the footpath on the same side will need to be closed for the 8 week period.
Temporary traffic lights and crossing points will be installed to safely move traffic and pedestrians through the area, however this may increase traffic along University road during the busiest times of the day.
The bus stops on each side of the road in this area will also be temporarily suspended and all buses will pick up and drop off from the bus interchange on University Road.
The new Jubilee Sports Centre building will house five new sports studios including dedicated martial arts and indoor cycling spaces, speed climbing, top rope climbing and a new modernised and improved gym including mixed weight and cardio zones. The building has been designed to be inclusive to all potential users, to connect to the outdoors, increase natural light, and to help meet our Low Carbon Target.
The new Jubilee Sports extension is due to be open to users in September 2024.
