Rebecca Taylor to leave University of Southampton Malaysia

Professor Rebecca Taylor, Pro Vice-Chancellor (ASEAN) and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Southampton Malaysia, has announced she will be stepping down in September 2024, after more than six years in post.

Since joining the University in 2018, Rebecca has led the University of Southampton Malaysia’s second phase of development, which has included the planning and delivery of our new, purpose-built premises, an expansion of the programme portfolio, establishing the Schools of Business and Computer Science, strengthening important Ministry, higher education and industry networks, and leading impressive achievements across research and innovation.

Professor Taylor commented: “I am very proud of all we have achieved in establishing the University of Southampton Malaysia as a vibrant and highly respected educational institution in Malaysia and across the wider ASEAN region. With the completion of the new campus, the new programmes accredited and in delivery, and with the excellent progress in research and innovation, this now feels the right time for me to be handing over to a new CEO to lead the next exciting phase in UoSM’s development.”

Wendy Appleby, Chair of the University of Southampton Malaysia Board, commented: “Rebecca has done a fantastic job in making our Malaysia campus a valued and respected institution, overseeing the new campus development and recruiting and building a very strong team. We are deeply grateful to her and wish her all the best for her future plans.”

Details of arrangements for Rebecca’s successor will be announced in due course.
