International Collaborative Research Fund: Call for applicants

Would you benefit from seed funding?

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new round of International Research funding*. The objective of this opportunity is to facilitate the development of large-scale collaborative research projects that will be supported by future proposals to external funders with international partners.

Professor Mark Spearing, Vice President Research, commented:

“The International Research Funding Scheme is a great opportunity open to all University employees to strengthen research, innovation and enterprise collaborations with our worldwide partners.  Anyone interested in applying is warmly invited to co-design their proposal with their overseas partners for submission. Applications are welcome from colleagues across all Schools and proposals involving more than one discipline and that exemplify our commitment to the triple helix are actively encouraged. I look forward to reading your exciting proposals!”

Funding envelopes up to £15,000 are available to visit and/or host an international partner to establish and cultivate research links at an institutional and individual group level. It is envisaged the funds are employed for collaborative activities, for instance to lead workshops to develop research, enterprise or capacity strengthening projects.

Priority will be given to proposals that are interdisciplinary and nurture multilateral partnerships committed to excellence. Partnerships with the potential to benefit the wider university community and forge cross-School or Faculty links are particularly encouraged. All funding applications are expected to articulate their potential to attract specific funding sources to ensure the future sustainability of the relationship. Please see the application form here.

The deadline to receive applications for projects seeking funding is 17:00 BST on Monday 29 July 2024.

*This internal funding call comprises the Global Partnership Award and the ISPF allocation (Research England International Science Partnership Fund 2024/25 allocation).
