Last week, we shared details of the final offer made in this year’s pay negotiations. Following this announcement, UCEA have now confirmed that two of the five national trade unions, University and College Union (UCU) and UNISON, have rejected the offer. This means that the formal New JNCHES dispute resolution procedure has been invoked.
UCEA is in the process of arranging the meetings required under the dispute resolution procedure, with the intention that these meetings will take place during August.
As a consequence of this timing, it will now not be possible to implement this year’s pay uplift in August. It will instead be implemented later and backdated, as applicable.
As soon as the dispute resolution procedure has been concluded we will be able to provide staff with a further update.
For avoidance of doubt, this delay does not impact on contractual incremental pay progression for those who are due to receive increments in August. These will be applied as normal.
