As part of our ongoing strategic review of our communications, we will be retiring the use of the current blog platform for SUSSED News and moving all internal news into SharePoint over the coming weeks.
This will be carried out in a phased way, and you will notice some changes in the format of some of our internal SUSSED articles, ahead of the completion of the transition where all articles will follow the new format.
There will also be a change to the number of emails subscribers receive as we run the systems concurrently during the transition phase.
Why are we doing this?
- Improved cyber security associated with ensuring all systems require authentication to access.
- It will provide a more streamlined solution so colleagues will need to look at fewer websites when looking for internal news.
- Some colleagues may be aware that the current subscription emails have had some errors and delays. This will remove these issues.
- It will provide a more modern look, and provide greater flexibility in the delivery of strategic news, including visual elements.
Subscribing to receive internal news
When we finalise the transition, the current subscription will be retired. An improved subscription functionality is in development and will be released over the summer. We will share more details once this is live.
To ensure you receive all emails, please use this link: https://sotonac.sharepoint.com/teams/news/sitepages/notifications.aspx.
You can also use this link as a new subscriber.
All internal news can be viewed here: https://sotonac.sharepoint.com/teams/News and we will continue to include key items for staff awareness in the weekly Staff Digest.
How will this affect me?
When complete:
- Colleagues will need to be logged into our systems (Microsoft 365) to access internal news; for colleagues who have subscribed using a personal (home) email address, you will no longer be able to access the system from an external account.
- https://southampton.likn.co/blog/sussed-news will be retired, with a redirect to the internal news feed https://sotonac.sharepoint.com/teams/News
- Colleagues who are subscribed using their @soton addresses will receive an email inviting them to re-subscribe. You will also find the information on how to subscribe to the new feed on SUSSED.
