Academic Professional Development workshops – September 2024

Below is a selection of workshops to support learning, teaching, research and KEE academic development that are open to all staff.  Not all are listed here so visit the September events page for the full listing. 

10-11 September – CHEP Festival 

Our 2-day event is celebrating academic practice across the triple helix. Join colleagues to find out about the latest trends and practices in education, research and KEE development. There will be a choice of online and in-person activities over 2 days. Tuesday 10 September will be online and Wednesday 11 September will be in-person. 

 

Researcher / KEE focused  

10 September – REF 2029 – Research leaders: The importance of non-traditional REF outputs 

Explore non-traditional REF outputs with Professor Simon Hettrick, Director of Strategy. Great for anyone involved with the REF process. 

17 September – Doctoral / PGR Supervisor Induction – Expectations of research supervision workshop 

New doctoral supervisors are invited to join this workshop to discuss key supervision strategies, explore case studies, and build on themes from the e-learning course. 

24 September – KE Open Session 

A chance to network and pick up on questions, ideas and challenges related to our current KE practice. 

 

Education focused 

18 & 25 September – Learning and Teaching in HE. A brief introduction 

Make a start on developing your education practice and get support to manage your education role/s (however big or small).  

18 September – How to create an online reading list 

Learn how to create, manage and find your online reading lists.  

25 September – Increasing interactivity and engagement with Teams, ‘Polls’ and ‘Forms’ 

This practical session will focus on increasing interactivity and engagement in both online and in-person sessions. We’ll review some of the features of Polls and Forms and how they integrate with Teams and PowerPoint.
