The University is thrilled to announce the official opening of the new extension to the Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre, a symbol of our collective dedication to excellence in sports, recreation and overall wellbeing.
The Centre boasts a new cutting-edge fitness suite featuring 200+ stations, making it one of the largest gyms in Southampton. This expansive gym is equipped with the latest in fitness technology, offering an unparalleled experience for all members. Designed with inclusivity at its core the space also features the latest adaptive sport equipment, ensuring people of all abilities have the opportunity to train, compete and thrive.
In addition to the impressive fitness suite, the Centre includes three new squash courts, perfect for both casual players and competitive athletes. These courts provide the ideal environment for honing skills and engaging in friendly competition.
The top floor of the extension is home to four new fitness studios designed to host the latest exercise classes. These versatile spaces will offer a diverse range of classes, including 16 different Les Mills classes, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Cycling enthusiasts will be delighted by the Technogym indoor cycling studio. This modern suite offers a dynamic and immersive cycling experience featuring the latest Technogym bikes and interactive training sessions.
For those seeking a vertical challenge, the Jubilee Centre provides a dedicated climbing and bouldering wall. This facility is perfect for climbers of all skill levels, offering routes and challenges that cater to beginners and experienced climbers alike.
In designing this centre, the University has placed a strong emphasis on Sustainability. From the solar panels on the roof to the energy efficient lighting and heating features, every aspect of this building has been planned with our environmental impact in mind.
The Jubilee Sport and Recreation Centre extension has been designed as a hub for use by our staff, students and the local community. The Centre will build on its established relationship with local schools and will continue to host community leagues, fitness classes and wellness programs, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources needed to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
