MyEngagement system available for teaching

Last year, the University introduced MyEngagement, a system that allows undergraduate and postgraduate taught students to register their attendance at timetabled taught sessions via an online app. The system plays a key role in helping us understand patterns of student attendance, engagement, and academic progress.

This academic year (2024/25), we will continue to use MyEngagement and want to take this opportunity to remind teaching staff how to access the system and share the resources that are available. We strongly encourage the use of MyEngagement for all students. However, it is mandatory for students sponsored with a Confirmation of Acceptable for Studies (CAS) for a student visa under the UKVI points-based immigration route.

Accessing MyEngagement

You can access MyEngagement through this link: https://southampton.seats.cloud/. For each timetabled session, you will need to log into your MyEngagement account to prepare the QR code or six-digit code for students so they can register their attendance.

Information and guidance for staff

We have a dedicated MyEngagement SharePoint site, with resources and guidance to support staff, including access to video guides and FAQs. It also includes a link to the Academic Engagement and Attendance Policy.

Information and guidance for students

Information on MyEngagement has been provided to new and returning students throughout the Welcome communications including the Welcome guide, SUSSED and this Knowledge Base article explaining how to download the app, checking in and more.

Alongside this, a communications toolkit and slides have been shared with Schools, providing our teaching community with guidance on communicating about MyEngagement to students.

Next steps with MyEngagement

Following the consultation on MyEngagement last academic year, we have received feedback from our staff and student community which will shape the next phase of the project. Please look out for updates on the MyEngagement SharePoint site.

If you have any questions, please check the Knowledge Base article and Staff FAQs. If you still have queries, feel free to reach out to the MyEngagement team via [email protected]
