The University of Southampton is committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of both our staff and students. Part of this commitment is to provide a comprehensive Occupational Health Service.
You will find an email in your inbox today from Wendy Appleby Vice-President (Operations) regarding our new provider. From 1 November 2024, remote Occupational Health services for staff at the University will be delivered by a new organisation, Optima Health, the UK’s largest occupational health and wellbeing provider. This follows a competitive tender process to find the best service for our University. Staff face to face services and Occupational Health for students will transfer in January 2025.
The appointment of a new provider means that it is necessary to transfer any Occupational Health records you may have with our current provider, UHS, to Optima Health. Transferring files such as these is standard practice when a new provider takes over a contract of this kind, to ensure consistency of services and meet data retention requirements. While we don’t anticipate any problems, we do need to let you know about this transfer of your records and what to do if you do not wish your records to go to Optima Health.
Following the transfer, Optima Health will ensure that your details remain confidential and their full privacy statement can be found on their website.
If, for any reason, you do not wish for your records to be transferred, please email [email protected] by 31 October 2024. Please note, you will need to provide details of where you would like to send your records for alternative storage. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] .
