Improvements to recording sickness in MyView

To improve sickness recording accuracy and reduce the administration burden on managers we are making two changes to recording sickness in MyView from 1 October 2024:

  • Sickness entries will auto approve without the need for managers to authorise.

This ensures sickness records are added to the payroll system immediately, bypassing the need for line managers (or their delegate) to approve this absence.  A confirmation email will be sent to the employee and manager as confirmation of the sickness being recorded.

  • Sickness entries no longer require an end date if this is unknown at the time of recording the sickness.

This is a new option to record sickness without an end date where the end date is unknown. Removing a mandatory end date when entering a sickness will increase the accuracy of sick absence because

  • Managers (and delegates) will no longer need to administer extensions to open ended sickness until the end date is confirmed
  • Allows same day and timely recording of the absence when an return date is unknown
