The University of Southampton is pleased to announce the launch of a partnership to develop and deliver a range of new and exciting online award-bearing programmes.
Deborah Gill, Vice President (Education) celebrating the partnership with Brendan Webb, Cambridge Education Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Commercial.
We will collaborate with the digital division of Cambridge Education Group (CEG Digital) to deliver Southampton Online, a Strategic Major Project with an aspiration to develop up to 20 online programmes in the next five years, with the first programmes due to launch in 2025.
Southampton Online will contribute to the achievement of the Education and Student Experience strategic plans by opening up a new market for the University and ensuring an excellent and distinctive University of Southampton education, regardless of mode, level or place of study.
Programme and Project Sponsor and Vice President (Education & Student Experience), Deborah Gill, said:
“We are delighted to partner with CEG Digital to develop our online programme offering. Online learning will offer students a flexible approach to achieve a qualification, allowing them to fit their studies around work and family commitments. It will also offer access to education to individuals in other countries, providing the opportunity to study with a Russell Group University, without the need for travel or relocation.
We will be working closely with our academic community across the University to ensure that these online programmes complement our current education offering, starting with colleagues in the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Web Science Institute who are already involved in detailed planning of the launch programmes with our new partner and the core project team.
Our Partners are best in class in producing and co-delivering excellent online programmes. Working in partnership will allow us to enter the online market at scale and to ensure the product is high quality and relevant to our new online learners. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance our global reach through sustainable education, while advancing the University’s ambition to grow student numbers. We look forward to sharing more detail with you as the project progresses.”
CEG Digital partners with universities to create, market and deliver part-time online university programmes to students around the world. They use cutting-edge technology, sector-leading pedagogy, and first-class student support to provide an outstanding educational experience that will build on our current education offering.
