The University previously announced the introduction of a new automated parking system. The system will go live on the 20 November, and we are asking all permit holders to re-apply for a new permit via the APCOA parking portal before that date. FAQs are available on the dedicated SharePoint.
Applications and appeals
Over 2500 colleagues have already applied for a new parking permit.
The Parking team is also currently working through appeals made by those who live within 3 miles of their workplace. The University recognises that some colleagues will have individual circumstances which may require further consideration by the team and in some cases additional documentation will be requested (the information will not be stored or processed by APCOA and this data will be handled in line with the University Data Protection Policy).
A panel has been established to review these cases, which includes a Chair of the Disability Network and one of the Chairs of the Parent and Carers’ Network. Please send all appeals, including supporting documentation, via the APCOA portal and a member of the parking team will review these.
The Parking team will respond to all colleagues who have appealed or have queries about their application ahead of 20 November.

- Shift workers who require parking outside the enforcement hours (8:00-17:00) do not need a permit and will not be charged. Staff whose shifts run into the charging period should contact the Parking Team via [email protected] so they are able to support with the application process.
- Some staff may be considered an ‘essential car user’ and/or may need access to a car to travel between different campuses for their job. If this is the case, please add the supporting information, such as line manager confirmation, in the APCOA Portal so the team can provide access to the correct permit.
