Seeking doctoral supervisors for evaluation study to better understand roles and responsibilities

The Centre for Higher Education (CHEP) and the Doctoral College are seeking doctoral supervisors to understand the role and responsibility of Doctoral Supervisors and the impact of the Doctoral Supervisor Training Programme (DSTP).

Your feedback will help shape the future of Doctoral Supervisor Training Programme (DSTP). It will examine the current level of support for Doctoral Supervisors, the impact of the training and resources and future development of the DSTP to enhance supervisor roles.

The aims of this study are to understand:

  • What do doctoral supervisors need to effectively support their doctoral students?
  • What constitutes best practice in a training programme for doctoral supervisors?
  • How much support are supervisors receiving from their faculties already?
  • Are doctoral supervisors aware of and engaging with existing resources?
  • Do doctoral supervisors feel confident about their role and responsibility?

The anonymous online survey is already open and will take approximately 10-15 minutes. The deadline for the survey is Tuesday 26 November.  There is also an option to take part in a semi-structured online interview via Teams at a mutually agreed date and time in November.

To participate in the survey and/or interview please follow this link.

To find out more about the study before you take part in the survey please go to the study information page.
