Faraday Demolition and Infrastructure works – Project Update

The Faraday project team are pleased to share a significant update on the Faraday demolition and enabling works project.

The project has reached a significant milestone, with district heating, drainage and other essential ground infrastructure works set to be complete by the end of January.  This crucial phase will ensure the reliability of our campus’s infrastructure, creating a solid foundation for future developments.

Below you can see some recent progress on the landscaping works in the area following the ground infrastructure works.

Meanwhile, the demolition of the Faraday Tower itself is well underway and is on track for completion in the summer 2025.

The contractor has approached the demolition carefully, reducing the tower one floor at a time. This phased approach will continue until the completion of the demolition. As the demolition works get closer to the ground you may notice an increase in the noise. The team have put significant mitigations in place to reduce this as much as possible, however it is likely that there will be some disruption during this phase of the works.

The images below show the current stage of the tower demolition.

Thank you to all the staff and students for your patience and support as this transformative project moves towards completion.
