The Blackboard Ultra Migration project aims to upgrade our virtual learning environment and support staff to migrate modules to the latest, more enhanced version of Blackboard called Ultra.
This migration presents an opportunity to develop your module design with support from the Ultra Project team and to enhance the student learning experience by making the most of the new features on Ultra.
At the start of this academic year, colleagues delivering Foundation and Year 1 modules migrated over to Blackboard Ultra, as part of the first migration wave. The feedback so far has been positive, with staff noting that Ultra offers a more engaging environment for students and provides a clear, intuitive interface.
For the second migration wave, all Semester 2 modules for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 will be delivered on Blackboard Ultra from the start of Semester 2 (Monday 27 January 2025). Please update all applicable courses before teaching starts in Semester 2 as there is no automatic rollover for the first-time migration of a module and you’ll need to manually transfer content.
The modules in Blackboard Ultra have already been provisioned with a template, following the Blackboard Universal Standards. You can find out what the standards are and what they will ensure through this YouTube video:
Support and resources
To support you with this migration, the team has developed a range of resources tailored to your learning needs including an area to trial the new platform, online guides, and more.
One key support option is the Staff Development Programme, which offers training sessions covering a variety of topics. If you haven’t attended these sessions yet, we strongly encourage those migrating Semester 2 module content for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 to participate.
