Colleagues are cordially invited to attend this year’s Annual ECS (School of Electronics and Computer Science) Professor Geoffrey Sims Lecture, featuring Dr Jade Leung, Chief Technology Officer of the UK AI Safety Institute
We are witnessing an exponential increase in the size and scale of advanced AI models. As these systems become increasingly powerful, they pose new and significant risks to society. In this talk, Jade Leung, CTO of the UK AI Safety Institute, will discuss how to address the potential harms of advanced AI and why government has a critical role to play in this challenge.
This talk will focus on the need for scientific rigour in AI safety. Jade will highlight how the AI Safety Institute’s work evaluating frontier AI models aims to advance this science and she will reflect on the key challenges and open questions that remain in the pursuit of safe AI.
