From imagination to innovation: Re:action magazine Winter 2024, out now

The Winter 2024 edition of our research and enterprise magazine, Re:action, explores the translation of University research into commercial ventures.

This activity is one of the most visible strands of the University’s triple helix strategy, which weaves together education, research, and knowledge exchange and enterprise. As well as being a pathway to achieving impact in the real world, commercialisation  enhances the University’s reputation, boosts our REF and KEF rating, and aligns us with the Government’s economic growth mission.

In this issue of Re:action you’ll find a wide variety of commercial ventures from across the University. This includes the development of new drugs to combat immunotherapy resistance in cancer treatment; the deployment of algorithms to create the next generation of EV batteries; and an ‘applied history’ consultancy bringing past lessons to contemporary challenges.

The issue catches up with spin-outs including Renovos, whose bone-healing gel is recognised as a breakthrough device; and Lumenisity, the hollow-core optical fibre technology company recently acquired by Microsoft.
