Bookings for Lifelong Learning courses starting this January 2025 are open.
We have a selection of Arts & Humanities short courses in Philosophy, Film, History, English Literature, Creative Writing, Art and Music which offer a sociable and enriching learning experience over a period of 6 to 8 weeks.
Starting this January 2025 we have courses which will take you on a journey through the world of maritime cinema, will inspire you to get to know and write about your local area and take you through the camera lens to explore the world of war and conflict through history. For the more philosophical minded there are courses which interrogate the nature of the mind, delve into the fundamental question of the meaning of life and examine the work of some key writers who have influenced thinking on these topics: Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Sartre, and Camus. For the more practical-minded we have our ever-popular Reflective Art in Practice courses and in April 2025, our Art of Film course will show you how to make a film in 6 steps, all in just one weekend!
As new year’s resolutions go, learning a new language is often high on the list and our Language Taster courses offer the ideal way to get started. Each course offers a short introduction to the language which will take you through the basics and give you some useful skills to help you take the first steps on your language learning journey or simply to make your travels abroad just a little bit friendlier.
From January 2025 we have new Taster courses in French, Spanish, Japanese and Greek. These courses are suitable for complete beginners, so no prior learning is required. Classes take place during evenings weekly over a period of 10 weeks at the University’s Avenue Campus.
