The Education Focused Network was launched in November 2022 and is a community of practice aimed at staff who have a strong focus on developing education.
The network is aimed at supporting career development for academics on the teaching pathway, but is open to anyone interested in developing their educational practice. It offers support through sharing examples of practice and resources, opportunities for external recognition (e.g. scholarship and funding opportunities), and guidance on career progression for educators. There are currently over 250 members, and we are looking to expand the membership during 2025.
The aims of this network are to:
- Support professional development, recognition, and academic career progression and promotion for education-focused staff
- Provide a network of peer support to share good educational practice, innovation and expertise
- Develop, support and encourage external recognition through the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)
The network provides regular events and workshops for members, as well as providing an active Teams site for all members to share ideas, practice and opportunities. Feedback from participants has been very positive:
