Academic Professional Development workshops – February 2025

Below is a selection of workshops to support learning, teaching, research and KEE (Knowledge Exchange and Enterprise) academic development that are open to all staff. Not all are listed here so visit the February event listings for the full listing.

Education focused

5 February – Harnessing AI in your teaching and research
Explore how you can harness AI tools effectively and ethically in your teaching and research with practical approaches for integrating AI into your academic workflow.

12 February – An Insight into Chinese Student Experiences
An opportunity to find out more about the cultural surprises and challenges our Chinese students face while they are studying with us.

13 February – Coping with Stressful Situations for Student Facing Academic Staff
An in-person workshop that covers keeping yourself well while dealing with difficult conversations and maintaining boundaries.

20 February – Using the English for Academic Purposes Toolkit to support your students’ study & writing skills
Explore the EAP (English for Academic Purposes) Toolkit and find out how you can use it to support students.

Researcher / KEE focused

6 February – KEE Ideas Lab (in-person)
The Ideas Lab will provide input and space for attendees to reflect on some initial ideas around how they might engage in knowledge exchange and enterprise projects.

12 February – Introduction to UN Sustainability and Development Goals
This session will introduce the SDGs and discuss how they might be applied to different areas of work and topics, and how to align research, engagement and knowledge exchange.

25 February – Introduction to Assessing Research Using Metrics
An introduction to bibliometrics & the University’s Responsible Metrics Policy as well as providing guidance on using the digital tools.

26 February – Worktribe Research 101
An introduction to the research application process and the research support available at the University.
