We are pleased to announce that the University has signed a contract with “Think Learning” to provide a new staff training records system for the University. This will offer a simplified and efficient solution, which has been selected in collaboration with stakeholders across the University.
Why are we making a change?
Our goal is to make it easier for staff to sign up for and complete training. The new system will give staff and their line managers quick and easy access to their training records, supporting staff learning and development.
The system will also help the University ensure compliance with mandatory training. This is crucial to meet our health, safety, and safeguarding responsibilities. Additionally, it will streamline course bookings, training content and reporting.
Our new system will support all current standards for accessibility, aligning with principles in the University’s digital strategic plan and the Digital Equality Steering Group action plan. It will comply with statutory requirements set out by the Equality Act and Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations.
The current system is based on older technologies which will soon become unsupported. So, it is critical that we move to newer cloud-based solutions to ensure continuity of service as well as improving user’s experience.
What happens next?
We will continue to work with staff, alongside Think Learning over the next 4-6 months to design, configure, test, and implement the new system. We aim to launch with an initial phase, covering all mandatory training by the end of this academic year. Other courses will be added in subsequent phases.
There will be changes to how colleagues book and complete training. The new system will be easier to use, showing you what you need to do, how to do it, and when the deadlines are. You will also receive regular reminders about training such as refreshers of existing courses or updated content.
For line managers, the new system will offer additional benefits, including the ability to see completion rates for their teams at any time.
We will provide further information and support as we get closer to the launch. Please look out for more updates.
