National Student Money Week 2025: Why just survive when you can thrive? 

National Student Money Week (Monday 3 to Friday 7 March 2025) is here! This annual campaign by the National Association of Student Money Advisors (NASMA) aims to help you take control of your finances while boosting your wellbeing.

This year’s theme, ‘Survive and Thrive: Building Financial Resilience’, is about encouraging and teaching you about how you can financially thrive now as a student and in the future.

Get involved in student-led events 

  • Monday 3 March, 3.306pm, Jubilee Sports Hall on Highfield Campus
    Join the Student Money Champions and Be Active to explore how sports and fitness can boost your wellbeing and financial resilience. Take part in interactive activities, enter a competition about thriving, and grab a Be Active Bingo Card where you can complete actions for a chance to win prizesincluding a free one-year gym membership at the Jubilee Sports and Recreation Centre.
  • Tuesday 4 March, 123pm, Sir James Matthews Building main corridor
    Drop by for fun games, freebies and real, relatable money conversations with your student peers, the Student Money Champions. You can play Financial Advice Jenga, where each block removed is a conversation starter on managing money, and a spin the wheel. 

Competitions  

Blackbullion, a student financial education platform, is running competitions this week where you could win up to £500 to kickstart your savings. Here’s how to enter by using their online platform: 

  • Complete the ‘Dropshipping’ and ‘Easy Fundraising’ learning pathways for a chance to win one of five £50 cash prizes. 
  • Complete all four pathways (Dropshipping, Easy Fundraising, Reselling, and Scholarships) to enter for a £500 cash boost. 
  • Take the ‘Money Mindset Quiz’ for a chance to win one of three £50 cash boosts.

  • Contact the Financial Support Team – Get one-to-one advice from specialist advisors (online or in-person, 15-minute informal chats).
  • Sign up to the Money Matters Newsletter – Receive regular money-saving tips and advice from the Student Money Champions straight to your inbox.
  • SUSU Advice Centre – Contact the Advice Centre for free, independent and confidential financial support. 
  • Further Study site – Find out about postgraduate study at UoS and the funding and discounts available. 
  • Student Enterprise page – Discover how you can set up your own business or side hustle with support from the Student Enterprise Team.
