Expressions of Interest for the 2025/26 Interdisciplinary Research Pump-Priming Fund Call 5 open at 12:00 on Monday 24 March 2025.
The fund aims to stimulate research activities of nascent interdisciplinary teams across Schools and Faculties, that will ultimately lead to the development of full research applications. Funding is allocated through an annual internal competition.
The fund supports activities to underpin future research proposals, including relationship building. Although there is no restriction on the amount of funding that may be requested, it is expected that typically proposals will be for less than £10k. Funding may be used to enable pump-priming that will lay the groundwork for future interdisciplinary activity and to facilitate:
- Networking meetings and other events to develop interdisciplinary projects
- Small pump-priming projects to generate preliminary data for future research
- Capacity-building (discipline-hopping)
It is expected that the outcomes of pump-priming activities will inform more substantive research for which external funding will be sought.
