I think the department we’ve got here in Politics and International Relations is fantastic. They are very welcoming, they’ve got a great breadth of expert knowledge, and I think they are going from strength to strength in terms of the experts that are joining the team.

The variety of classes that were offered to us was extremely valuable and the time and support offered by the professors were also of great quality. You are given time to experiment and realise what you are truly interested in. Both professionally and personally, my time at the university made me evolve and find my way.

I chose Southampton because it’s a Russell group University, which I was looking for as I wanted to hear about new research as I learned – which I did. It’s also important for job hunting later and also gave me confidence in the value of my degree.

I really enjoyed my degree, especially studying politics, and was lucky to have fantastic tutors.

The MSc International Politics course offered the variety that I was looking for; interdisciplinary study, and a wide range of subjects even within disciplines. I was able to tailor my module choices to fit with my future career.

Not only did I receive a degree from an internationally recognised university, I also made some great friends.

My Masters degree at the University of Southampton has considerably extended my analytical, argumentation and research skills, and has enabled me to critically analyse complex subjects and issues, which is an incredibly helpful skill at my current traineeship at the Europol HQ in the Hague.

University taught me that making friends and focusing on what you enjoy are the most important things.

To be taught by academics who are leaders in their fields of expertise is motivating and stimulating.

I got my internship because of Southampton's reputation. It has really offered the next step for me.

The variety of modules available in Social Sciences allowed me to shape my own degree.

Throughout my time at Southampton I was lucky enough to have wonderful teachers who inspired their students with their passion for the subject.

The best part of the job is being in places where you think a little bit of history is unfolding and you’re there watching it.

Opportunities come from things you don't expect at university, and you can pursue most interests even if you are starting off at the most basic level.
