The Winchester School of Art is welcoming top names from the world of fashion to a three-day event this week, to share ideas, learn new skills and celebrate the achievements of students and staff.
The Festival of Fashion and Textiles will play host to a number of industry leaders. Invited guests will have the opportunity to put questions to founder of Mulberry, Roger Saul and prospective students can take part across the festival in creative workshops with innovative fashion designer Jane Bowler, fashion illustrator Hollymae Gooch and textile designer Sharon Kearley, as well as fashion styling workshops with professional photographers and stylists. The festival will also feature talks and exhibitions of current student work from across the fashion department.
Programme Leader in Fashion Marketing Amanda Bragg-Mollison, co-organiser of the event, comments: “This three-day festival demonstrates Winchester School of Art’s close links to industry and will give prospective students a unique opportunity to learn from professionals who are experts in their field, as well as share ideas and develop creative skills. It is also the perfect opportunity for existing students to showcase their work to industry professionals and the general public.”
The festival includes three professionally produced fashion shows sponsored by Guillaume Vappereau Hair Studio and Bobbi Brown make-up and beauty. Catwalk shows produced for the 9 / 10 July, feature the very best work from the School’s graduating students and our international University partners.
The gala day on 11 July includes a Q&A session with guest speaker, Roger Saul, founder of Mulberry and will culminate in an industry-facing fashion show and awards presentation. The gala day has been organised in association with Business Solent to bring the University, industry and public together in a dazzling finale to the festival.
The Winchester School of Art Festival of Fashion and Textile Design 2013 takes place between 9-11 July, with the gala fashion show at 1800 on 11 July.
