Lord Martin Rees, Astronomer Royal, will give the key note lecture entitled From Mars to the Multiverse.
The key parameters of our expanding universe (the expansion rate, the geometry and the content) are now being pinned down by experimental data, especially from ESA’s Planck Spacecraft. These advances pose new questions: What does the long-range future hold? Should we be surprised that the physical laws permitted the emergence of complexity? Is physical reality even more extensive than the domain that our telescopes can probe? This illustrated lecture will attempt to address such issues.
This event is open to the general public and tickets are free.
Times: 2.30 – 4pm.
Date: 23 September
