The University’s first Archaeology MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) will begin on 19 May 2014. This free, six week online course focuses on the ‘Archeology of Portus: Exploring the Lost Harbour of Ancient Rome’ and will allow participants to learn about our research at Portus, what it tells us about imperial Rome as well as providing an insight into the wide range of digital technologies employed to record, analyse and present the site.
This is the third MOOC which the University is offering in conjunction with FutureLearn which allows flexible studying and develops new skills and understanding whilst benefitting from an engaging educational experience.
Students can begin the MOOC any time they wish and dip in and out of the subjects they are interested in learning more about. It’s an unbelievable opportunity to gain free access to world-leading research and teaching and will require approximately two to three hours of study time per week for the duration of the course.
