Struggling with your finances? The Hardship Support Fund could help

The Hardship Support Fund is provided by the University to help students who find themselves in unexpected, unforeseen or exceptional financial circumstances. So far this academic year, the fund has already helped over 65 students.

Student Services (Cropped)

Appointments are available for students every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in the Student Services Centre (Building 37, Highfield Campus). At your appointment, the Financial Information & Assistance advisor will discuss the application process and your eligibility.

Please telephone the Student Services Centre on +44(0)2380 599 599 to arrange an appointment. Students who are studying outside of the Southampton area or students who have medical issues or dependants can request a telephone appointment.

In the first instance you must be a currently enrolled student at the University of Southampton. You must have accessed all available statutory funding or, if you are self-funded, you must demonstrate that you’ve made reasonable provision to cover your tuition, accommodation and everyday livings costs for the current academic year. Our website has more information about the application process and eligibility criteria.

You can find more advice on managing your money on the University website.

Please note the Hardship Support Fund cannot normally be used to cover tuition fees or placement costs and applying for Hardship Support does not guarantee an award.
