On 5 March, the Careers and Employability Service hosted their second Spring Fair and recorded an increase of 41 per cent more unique student visits, up from 1,029 to 1,446 visitors. These students from all faculties and year groups helped ensure a fantastic experience for the 79 exhibitors, 66 per cent of whom commented that our Fair was the ‘best’ or ‘better than most’ other university Careers Fairs they’d visited.
Careers Fairs are a great way for students to discover work experience opportunities, graduate roles and are the perfect place for tips about job application processes.
Improvement and innovation are integral to our Careers Fairs. Collaborating with Enabling Services, extra support was offered to students with additional requirements including queue jump, Fair Ambassador help, and a rest space. These opportunities aimed to ensure the Fair was as inclusive as possible and were well-received by attendees.
The Careers and Employability Service organises three Careers Fairs a year, and an additional Fair showcasing the internal opportunities across our University in November. During this academic year, these four events welcomed 7,156 students. The next Careers Fair opportunities will be the extremely popular All Sectors Fair and the IT, Science and Engineering Fair on the 17 and 18 October 2019, held once again in the Jubilee Sports Hall.
