As members of the Technician Commitment Implementation Group, they will play a pivotal role in ensuring we are able to deliver, track and monitor progress against the Technician Commitment’s ambitious action plan. The Faculty Technical Leads will provide a link between the Implementation Group, the Working Groups and all of our Technical Staff.

Professor Rachel Mills, Dean of Environmental Life Sciences and Technician Commitment Sponsor said: “We had a great response to our call for Technical Leads, and I am delighted to announce the four appointments. This team has a wealth of knowledge and experience, each member bringing their own particular specialism and focus for the Technician Commitment. Together I believe we will achieve many benefits for our technical community and the wider University”.

On her appointment, Agnes Michalik shared this comment; “It is a pleasure to be engaged in the development and implementation of the Technician Commitment. I feel honoured to be able to contribute to strengthening the visibility and recognition of our Technicians, to safeguard their vital technical skills, as well as learn more about their contribution and work potential.”

Ben Coles, from Medicine also commented “I am incredibly excited to be able to raise the profile of technical staff and highlight the valuable role they play, including their contribution to the student experience and research outputs. With my fellow leads and colleagues, we aim to identify new ways to promote a greater understanding of the many contributions made by our technical community, within the University.”
