This month with Enabling Services, we will be focusing on one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing: Give.
The act of giving and kindness can create a sense of reward and self-worth, and can help us to feel connected with other people in our community.
Whilst people may think of giving as donating money to charity, there are lots of other ways you can give:
- Community Cheer project! Take part in our card donation scheme to reach those who might need an extra message of support. If you’re in Halls, pick up some craft materials from Reception and drop off your card in the box. If you’re not in Halls, arrange a slot to visit B37 with Student Life where you can pick up craft materials and drop off your card. Your cards will be sent safely to local hospitals, care homes, and charities who have said they would accept them. Please drop off your cards by the 14 December.
- Donate any unwanted clothes or non-perishable food to charities or food banks. If you are in Halls, you can drop your food donations off at your Halls reception. Please observe government guidelines when donating.
- Give a festive shout out to someone at the University who has had a positive impact in the last few months.
- Volunteer for a cause you feel passionate about. You can find volunteering opportunities through the Careers and Employability Service, or through SUSU Societies.
- Ask a friend how they have been and give them your full attention.
