You are warmly invited to take part in a series of online events organised by the Confucius Institute.

The Chinese New Year is around the corner and next year will be the Year of the Ox. You can join in these celebrations:

Sunday 14 February 2021 (19.30)

For the first time in the UK, Chinese New Year 2021 celebrations will be streamed online for audiences to enjoy from their living room.

The UK Shaolin Temple presents a unique Chinese New Year celebration to mark the Year of the Ox 2021. The online feature brings together some of the favourite Chinese New Year performances of Chinese Lion and Dragon dances, music, dance and folk arts, with people’s stories of their Chinese New Year traditions.

In addition, people will give their reflections on the Year of the Ox by sharing the personal stories of strength and overcoming adversity.

Wednesday 10 to Sunday 28 February 2021

Spring festival, including quizzes and art competition.

Taichi tutorials

The Confucius Institute is also pleased to announce that, further to the popularity of its last Taichi tutorials, it will be organising another series of online tutorials, starting on 24 February. This will be Taichi 32-form.

Taichi for your well-being: Taichi 32-form

Taichi (or Taijiquan) is a traditional Chinese martial art practiced for its self-defence and health benefits. Taichi-32 (or 32-posture Taichi) is a medium-level Taichi sequence that is suitable for beginners. Taichi-32 is mainly based on the Yang-style Taichi but it includes also the essential elements of other Taichi styles. It is a widely practiced Taichi sequence.
