We know that it takes more than one weekend to get settled at university, so here are a few links and information you may find useful as you enter Welcome Week.
Welcome Events
We have organised a wide variety of events for you to start your university life with – you can relax, meet people on campus or in your halls, and try some new sports and activities. Some events are on a drop-in basis, while others require sign-ups, so do check the full programme on the MySouthampton app or on the Student Events SharePoint site.

Your Students’ Union is also putting on plenty of events for you to get involved with this week and the next, including the Freshers’ Fair, Bunfight Clubs and Society Fair, and Freshers’ Ball. Check out the SUSU Freshers’ programme on their website.
Getting around
In order to plan your journey to our campuses, check out this SUSSED piece from last week. It contains useful links to public transport options, as well as information on how to keep your bike safe.
If you need help navigating our campuses, you can use our campus maps, available both on the MySouthampton app and on the Maps website.
MySouthampton app
The MySouthampton app can be useful after the Welcome period too – it is the quickest way to access your emails, digital ID card, emails, timetable, maps, and other things you might use during your time as a student, including bus times and printing credit top-up. Download it for iOS or Android, or access the web version via the MySouthampton website.
Catch up on recent news you might have missed:
- Online mindfulness course and wellbeing cafes (southampton.ac.uk)
- Santander X UK Awards 2022 – start-up funding opportunity (southampton.ac.uk)
- Timetables now available for semester one 2022/23 (southampton.ac.uk)
While this week is all about settling into your new university life in your own way, the academic term officially starts next week, so do keep checking SUSSED and your University email account regularly for any updates and key information from your School.
If you have any questions or need any support during this period, don’t hesitate to reach out to The Student Hub. The team are here for you 24/7 to make sure you receive the advice and information you need. You can contact them via online chat, email, or telephone 023 8059 9599.
