Anniversary Fellowship scheme 2023

The Anniversary Fellowship Scheme is open for applications, and offers an exciting opportunity for early-career researchers to advance their research careers and to be part of our ambitious plans.  The scheme was launched last year in support of the University Strategy and to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the University’s Royal Charter, and up to six Fellowships are available for 2023.

The aim of the programme is to attract and develop the talented individuals who have the potential and ambition to become research leaders in their field, and who will tackle adventurous and novel research challenges.  The scheme will contribute to our ambition for an inclusive and dynamic research environment, where research excellence thrives. Anniversary Fellows will benefit from three-year independent research funding, additional funding for research expenses and access to mentoring, career development and networking across the University and beyond.

The scheme is open to internal and external candidates.  There are no eligibility rules based on years of post-doctoral experience, as this does not allow for variations of career paths across disciplines. We recognise that women and people of Black, Asian and minority ethnicities are underrepresented in academia. We want to change this and particularly encourage applications from these groups as well as applications from candidates who identify as LGBTQ+; working class, first generation Higher Education, the Global South and other underrepresented groups such as people with disabilities.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 28 February.
