Whilst we hope the assessment period runs smoothly, you may find yourself in a position where your work or assessments are negatively affected by illness or other exceptional circumstances outside of your control.
The Special Consideration process is your way of letting us know of any exceptional circumstances, so we can determine whether there is sufficient evidence that this has impacted your academic performance.
When to apply
You should make a request within five working days of the impacted assessment or exam, but no later than Monday 27 January, whichever comes first. If you submit your request too late, the Board for semester one may not be able to consider your case, and your outcome could be delayed.
Please note, the dated deadline does not apply to students from the Faculty of Medicine or School of Health Sciences, however, you must still submit your request within five working days of your impacted exam or assessment.
Making a request
You’ll need to fill out a Special Consideration form as part of your request and your case will need to be considered by the Special Consideration Board. Filling out the form correctly is important.
Guidance
Before you make a request, we strongly recommend that you watch this video and read the guidance so that you can evaluate whether your circumstances are likely to be accepted.
If you have any concerns, it may be helpful to discuss them with your Personal Academic Tutor. You can also seek advice from the SUSU Advice Centre.
