Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Present a coherent written description of your topic in your own words and style.
• Synthesise information from several different sources.
• Deliver an activity in an engaging and motivational manner.
• Design, conduct and write a critical review of the literature under supervision.
• Effectively communicate a body of scientific research via oral presentation
• Understand the processes involved in designing such an activity.
• Appreciate the requirements of designing an activity to convey a scientific concept to a school-going audience.
• Design a means of assessment to gauge the effectiveness of delivering the activity.

This module is concerned with researching an appropriate topic in the field of biological sciences, and developing both a detailed written report on that topic as well as delivering an associated educational activity. In Marwell Zoo, the topics covered are varied and could be from hominoid evolution to habitat loss. Similarly in Peter Symonds activities could be across the range of all biology (e.g. neuroscience, developmental biology, ecology) learning to design and then deliver a biological concept to a school going audience in an innovative and inspirational manner.

• Seminars/workshops from academics and/or other professionals (Marwell or School).
• Tutorials on science, education and communication.
• Verbal and written feedback.
