The Southampton University Corporate Civil Engineering Scheme (SUCCESS) offers:

  • an annual bursary of £1,650
  • a summer work placement that lets you apply what you’ve learned and get valuable experience
  • mentoring from a senior engineer in your sponsoring company

Eligibility

You must be a first, second or third-year undergraduate Civil Engineering student and agree to:

  • work at least 8 to 10 weeks for your sponsoring employer during summer vacation
  • write a progress report for your sponsor each term
  • achieve at least a 60 percent average in your degree each year

How we award scholarships

  1. We screen applications to make sure they meet eligibility criteria, then send them to participating sponsors.
  2. If your application is shortlisted you will be invited to interview and attend a selection day held on campus.
  3. If you are successful you will be contacted soon after the interview.

You will receive the annual bursary payment when you complete your summer placement. This is usually paid in three equal instalments in October, January and April.

Conditions of getting the scholarship

If you end your studies early you will need to pay back part of the bursary.
