- Summarise major trends in the provision of social protection around the world.
Syllabus
The module includes online audio-recorded lectures on:
Introduction to the module; The principles of social protection; Contributory Vs. non-contributory schemes of pension protection; Key concepts of poverty; Measurement tools for poverty; Measuring poverty in high income countries; Policy responses to poverty in later life; Older people's livelihoods, work and vulnerability; Poverty and policy responses in Africa; Gender, Cohort Differences, and Poverty in Social Protection: Case Studies from South East Asia; Poverty and policy responses in Latin America.
