Module overview
The placement setting will be determined by the need to ensure that the trainee is able to gain a level of clinical competence (as defined by the Log of Clinical Competence) appropriate for completion of the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology and application for entry to the HCPC register of Practitioner Psychologists. Consideration will also be given to the trainee’s desire to gain experience of work with a specific client group or in specialist clinical skills.

Assessment
Assessment strategy
Summary of assessment methods: Formative assessment of the module takes place via the mid placement review and via feedback provided in weekly supervision by the NHS supervisor. Trainees must complete two formal observations of their clinical work. Trainees will also be required to complete a CPD log. This is a formative assessment. Feedback on attainment of BPS competencies is provided via joint completion of competency portfolio. Summative assessment is via Supervisor End of Placement form and review of BPS competency log. Trainees are able to have one further attempt to retake this module at a time determined by the Programme team. Two placement module fails result in programme failure and failure to meet the minimum number of placement days may constitute placement failure. Further details are available in the programme handbook.
