About
Kate completed her MPhys with Industrial Placement in the School of Physics and Astronomy in 2018, with a Master's thesis on low refractive index optical fibre coatings. After 5 years working in industry on everything from space laser communications to high-power pulsed lasers, she returned to the University to study for a PhD at the Optoelectronics Research Centre.
Her PhD project is titled: "Development of advanced rare-earth doped optical fibres for high-power laser applications"
