- Chris is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of International Association for the Study of Pain. He is also a module lead, a personal academic tutor and has a major contribution to teaching, course design and curriculum development for the life sciences. Chris is involved in student supervision on a variety of programmes at all academic levels.

Chris has a long history in research where his interests have centred on neuromuscular physiology, the electrophysiological characterisation of synaptic function, the functional genetics of synaptic transmission, functioning of neural networks in model systems, optogenetic manipulation of neuromuscular function and the critical determinants of muscle cell excitability.
