Fraser's research focuses on addressing complex social questions through generation, integration and analysis of data from multiple sources, often within a geospatial framework. While his focus is on maritime prehistory, the interdisiciplinary nature of his work and the utlity of methods employed have seen him carry out research on a wide range of projects across the world (on land and underwater).
In recent years this has seen an increase in interdisciplinary research on contemporary topics; from environmental impact assessemnt and evaluation, to civic and community focused initiatives.
