Shahnaz Ibrahim holds an academic visiting position at the Department of Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, at Southampton Business School at the University of Southampton, UK. She is also a member of the Centre for Inclusive and Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CISEI), at the University of Southampton, UK.

Current research
Employing a qualitative approach, Shahnaz’s research is multi-disciplinary at the interface of strategy and entrepreneurship. Her research is in areas of entrepreneurship, particularly the social and sustainable dimensions, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices from a multi-layered perspective. Her research contributes to the field by demonstrating the situated and contextual dynamics of CSR in SMEs in emerging markets. Her research focuses on the process of entrepreneurship from a multiple bottom-line perspective, social enterprises and social innovation, sustainable Entrepreneurship, sustainable development, and Corporate social responsibility in emerging and developing countries and in small and medium-sized enterprises. She is also looking at ecosystem research and how it impacts sustainable, social enterprises, and digital enterprises.
Shahnaz presented papers discussing a range of issues related to her areas of research in several prestigious conferences, namely the Academy of Management (AOM), European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS), European Academy of Management (EURAM), British Academy of Management (BAM), Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) Conferences.
Shahnaz is a Team member of a research project entitled “Understanding perspectives and motivations for research commercialization through a diversity lens”, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) IA-funded
Shahnaz supervised PhD theses to completion on the following topics:"Crowdsourcing of New Consumer Product Ideas in the Cultural Context", "Sustainable Development and community empowerment through Tanzanian tourism social enterprises ", "Shaping the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Saudi Arabia" and “Examining the Dynamics of the interrelationship between Social Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: The Pakistani case”.

Biography
Shahnaz holds a doctoral degree from the University of Southampton, Southampton Business School for her research on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability in entrepreneurial firms in developing countries.
Shahnaz earned her MBA from George Mason University, Virginia, USA in 2007, with Market and Business development concentration. She earned her BSc degree from Assiut University, Egypt, majoring in Business Administration. She was appointed to an academic position at the same University.
While pursuing her PhD degree, Shahnaz was the postgraduate student representative of the Faculty of Business and Law, Equality and Diversity Advisory Group. The group worked towards ensuring integration and mainstreaming of the University's equality and diversity agenda throughout the Faculty. Her role involved monitoring and evaluating the Faculty, progressing on the University’s various equality plans as required by legislation.
Shahnaz was also a Research Fellow and Project Coordinator for the European INTERREG England-France cross-channel 3-year EU-funded project on university-industry collaboration, entrepreneurship, and CSR between the University of Southampton in the UK and the University of Normandie in France. This project involved a strategic partnership between UK and French universities.
Shahnaz was a Principal Teaching Fellow in Strategy, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, at Southampton Business School, at the University of Southampton in the UK. Throughout her career, Shahnaz has held key leadership roles. Shahnaz led undergraduate and postgraduate programs. She was the program director of the undergraduate business management program and the program director of the MSc International Entrepreneurship and Management, MSc Business Strategy and Innovation Management, and MSc Digital Business programs at the University of Southampton, UK.
Shahnaz was involved in several research projects. Shahnaz also was involved in a project concerning eco-tourism and social entrepreneurship in emerging economies, funded by the British Council-Newton Fund Institutional Links Scheme. The project generated insights into sustainable entrepreneurship strategies of SMEs in this industry sector, to create knowledge exchange between industry, government organizations, and universities.
Shahnaz was also involved in a project related to diversity and commercialization of research funded by The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), UK.
