Dr Ella Baker completed an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Portsmouth, followed by a PhD in the Academic Unit of Human Development and Health, at the University of Southampton. During this time she was named as one of the top three young investigators in Lipids and Nutrition at the International Society for the Study of Fatty acids and Lipids conference.
Dr Baker holds expertise within a variety of molecular and cell biology techniques, inflammation, fatty acid metabolism as well as the co-ordination of human nutrition intervention trials.
Dr Bakers' research to date focuses on the metabolism, functionality, and underlying mechanisms of action of plant-derived fatty acids. Her interests include novel plant-derived fatty acids and exploring the effects on membrane structure and function.
