Biography
Dr. Gunn is an ocean-focused climate scientist. She investigates drivers of change in the Southern Ocean, which surrounds Antarctica. Here, the seas and oceans are disproportionately important for pacing the consequences of climate change. But it remains difficult to collect enough data to learn about this remote region. Dr. Gunn uses a combination of physical measurements (e.g., shipboard temperature and salinity), acoustic observations (e.g., seismic reflection surveys), and model output to better understand Southern Ocean change and to consider what we may expect into the future.
Before joining University of Southampton, Dr. Gunn was a fellow at Australia’s National Science Agency (CSIRO) and undertook research at the University of Miami. She obtained her Ph.D. from Cambridge University in 2019.
