Mr Somnath Paramanik

I am a dedicated Senior Research Assistant at the School of Geography and Environmental Science, University of Southampton, concurrently pursuing a Ph.D. at the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kgp). My research focuses on the application of Remote Sensing and GIS in Agriculture and Forestry, with a specific emphasis on the estimation of biophysical parameters such as Leaf Area Index (LAI) and Chlorophyll using a combination of satellite and ground observations. My academic journey includes a Master's degree in Earth System Science and Technology from IIT Kgp (2015-2017) and a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (2011-2015). I am passionate about advancing our understanding of Earth Observation and Geospatial Science and contributing valuable insights to the fields of Environmental science and Sustainability.
