Project overview
This project (funded by Research England, Participatory Research Fund) involves a research collaboration between university researchers, Early Years practitioners and Reception class teachers from 5 local educational settings, to co-design, co-produce, trial and co-evaluate a focused programme of early childhood pedagogical activities that will be evidence-based and will aim to:
a) Develop young children’s understanding of the multiple meanings and social uses of numbers in everyday life and foster their curiosity and knowledge about numbers outside the classroom.
b) Enable educators and families to make meaningful connections between children’s experiences with numbers in everyday contexts, and their learning about numbers at preschool/school.
