Knowledge and Understanding

Having successfully completed this module, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

• The basic anatomical structure and histology of the principal organs in these systems.
• The structure and function of the mammalian kidney.
• The autonomic nervous system and its role in coordinating behaviours.
• The structure and function of the cardiovascular system.
• The control, structure and function of skeletal muscle and smooth muscle.
• The principles of digestion and nutrient absorption.

Transferable and Generic Skills

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

• Analyse and present data.
• Show software skills problem solving, working with others and self-directed learning.
• Transfer theoretical knowledge gained through lectures and apply this in other practical classes.
• Develop team-based skills in working in a laboratory in a small group.

• Draw annotated diagrams of anatomical structures and their features.
• Understand how to analyse human organs.
• Implement anatomical planes in a software environment.

5-Respiratory system and lung imaging.

6-Cardiovascular system (CVS) and biomedical engineering.

7-Digestive system.

8-Renal (Kidney) system.

Teaching and learning methods

The course is delivered through a combination of 36 standard lectures, and two practical lab sessions for Physiology and Anatomy, respectively
