Module overview
The aim of the Student Selected Unit (SSU) is to introduce an element of choice in the third year curriculum that will develop and broaden the educational experience of the student.
Students must undertake one SSU course to fulfil the requirements of this module. The specific learning outcomes of individual SSU courses will vary.

Syllabus
Students will choose one course from modern languages, clinical specialties or courses that give wider perspectives on healthcare. The final list of courses that will be included will vary from year to year depending upon the availability of the teaching staff and to reflect the changing healthcare environment.
The following are indicative of the types of courses that will be on offer. Courses that do not recruit a minimum number of students may not be delivered.

The module will be taught mainly in person with occasional online options through a range of teaching and learning strategies.
The teaching and learning methods employed will depend on the course being taught, but will include all or some of the following:

Assessment
Assessment strategy
The summative assessment will be based on attendance, engagement and professional behaviour.
An assessment will be completed for each student at the end of each course. Students will be assessed on a pass/fail basis.
Students will also be formatively assessed using a range of appropriate methods such as quizzes, presentations, reflections, depending on the content of the course.
