Module overview
This module builds on the skills you gained during the year two ‘Research Methods’ module. You will further develop your skills in collecting and analysing data through planning and conducting an independent project that is relevant to your own field(s) of practice.
You will develop skills in analysis and synthesising the findings from an inquiry in order to inform best practice. You will also develop your skills of critical appraisal and gain knowledge from a wide range of relevant literature. You will apply this to the design, execution, critique/reflection and recommendations in the reporting of the project.

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:
- Analyse and present data using appropriate methods.
- Interpret results, synthesising ideas to generate solutions and evaluate their clinical relevance.
- Collect data using methods which are justified with respect to the aims of the inquiry.
- Critically evaluate the process of inquiry with respect to trustworthiness of the results by identifying strengths and limitations of the process.
Syllabus
This module will build on the knowledge and skills you gained as a result of undertaking the Research Methods module. The majority of your learning will be through independent self-directed learning, supported through a series of supervision seminars and workshops.

Ethical approval processes and accessing data/participants.
Literature review methodology and reporting literature reviews
Audit and improvement projects research methods and their application

You will have a choice of focus for the completion of a project that will be agreed with your project supervisor. This will be assessed through the submission of a written project of up to 5000 words.
